Job summary

Watercrest Senior Living in San Antonio, TX seeks a Wellness CNA to provide compassionate daily care for residents. The role supports activities of daily living, collaborates with the nursing team, and participates in programs to enhance resident well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care and activities of daily living.
  • Review reports and transfer information during shifts.
  • Assist residents to and from activities and meals.
  • Support independence and dignity, attend to spiritual needs as needed.
  • Perform laundry and light housekeeping as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency calls promptly and follow care plans.
  • Maintain infection control and confidentiality of resident information.
  • Report changes to Wellness Nurse or Director immediately.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures and wear PPE as required.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Wellness CNA assures the day-to-day care of our residents/patients is provided in a sensitive, professional and effective manner. This position provides assistance to the resident/patients in accordance with state and company regulations. The Wellness CNA may also participate in the Culinary Program and Community Program to ensure the best quality of care is provided for all residents/patients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist residents/patients with their personal care and activities of daily living as assigned and as requested by residents/patients
  • Review and participate in 24 Hour Reports, Daily Logs, Shift Cross-over Reports and verbal reports as needed
  • Assist residents/patients to and from scheduled programs
  • Promote personal choices, independence and spiritual needs as needed
  • Perform laundry duties as assigned
  • Respond to resident/patient emergency calls in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with new resident/patient care protocols
  • Report all resident changes in condition immediately to the Wellness Nurse or Resident Wellness Director
  • Assure that established infection control practices are maintained
  • Report all accidents and incidents as soon as possible to supervisor, no matter how minor
  • Maintain the confidentiality of residents’/patients’ personal care information
  • Honor the residents’/patients’ personal and property rights
  • Be knowledgeable and prepared for emergency situations including disasters, fire and other emergencies
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks as assigned using established procedures and standards
  • Assist in the dining room with serving meals and clearing of tables
  • Provide post-mortem care as instructed
  • Must be in company uniform and resident ready at all times
  • Performs other related essential duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents/patients, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contacts
  • Able to make independent decisions
  • Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner
  • Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • CPR certification / First Aid certification

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working with seniors preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
  • Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions
  • Able to work under stress and in emergency situations
  • Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing and grasping
  • Able to talk and hear effectively in order to convey messages, instructions and information to residents and team members
  • Occasionally lift / carry up to 50 pounds.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE / PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

  • Work in all areas of the community
  • Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and other conditions
  • Required to use personal protective equipment and supplies to prevent burns, falls, and infection and follow safety policies and procedures
  • Personal protective equipment includes infection control kit, rubber gloves and non-slip shoes
  • Subject to infectious diseases, substances and odors
  • Follow Safety Policy & Procedures

6am-2pm, Skilled Nursing, Rotating schedule, Must have current certification as a nurse aide in Texas. Experience in Skilled Nursing/Long Term care a plus.
