Trinity Health Michigan in Grand Rapids is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech II to join our operating suite. You will decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize instruments, ensuring readiness for patient care and efficient case flow.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, certification in Central Service Processing within 18 months, and at least one year of general work experience. Evening, full-time schedule with 40 hours per week and benefits Day One.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate instruments using washer/decontaminator equipment and proper hand-washing.

• Sterilize instruments using steam sterilizers and GAS Plasma.
• Store and distribute sterilized instruments.
• Maintain efficient processing workflow aligned with case needs.

Position Purpose:

Provides hospital and affiliated facilities with processed materials and equipment by executing established procedures fordecontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization. Maintains efficient flow of processing procedures, throughappropriate case set-up, anticipation of health care provider requests and patient care needs.

What the Sterile Processing Tech II will do:

• Properly identifies and decontaminates instruments through use of washer/decontaminator equipment and proper hand-washing techniques.
• Assembles instruments correctly, ensuring appropriate cleanliness and function is achieved.
• Prepares instruments for sterilization through proper packaging, rigid container system, and wrapping techniques.
• Sterilizes instruments by correctly loading carts and operating sterilizers (Steam Sterilizer and Gas Plasma).
• Properly handles sterilized instruments for storage and distribution.
• Maintains efficient flow of processing procedures, through appropriate case cart set-up, anticipation of health care provider requests and patient care needs.
• Anticipates and prioritizes instrument and supply needs using surgery lists, Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) computer system and inventory levels of instruments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Central Service Processing required within eighteen (18) months of date of hire.
• One year of general work experience.
