Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Prefer 5 years relative industrial sheetmetal experience, journeyman level.
  • Good communication skills; able to handle multiple assignments; troubleshooting.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting is a plus.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all machines needed to perform assigned work.
  • Power tools include: square shears, nibbler, bending brakes, rollers, drill press, saws, portable grinders, etc.; hand tools like wrenches and rivet guns.
  • Learn and observe all plant safety rules and regulations; be alert to dangers of working with sheet metal and tools.
  • Certain roles may be on Emergency Response Teams (ERT) and require training; moving into new roles or transferring departments may occur.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and in close, congested areas; capable of working inside vessels and at heights.

Firestone Polymers, LLC is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas, a division of Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company.Job CategoryProduction & Skilled TradesPosition SummaryWork with all types of steel including stainless and galvanized, work from blue prints, sketches and diagrams in order to maintain and repair equipment such as: dewatering and drying equipment, baling and packaging equipment, guards of all types and sizes, duct work of all shapes and sizes; fabricate and lay out new fabrications and make patterns; field fit when necessary. Work must be installed for safety measures without rough edges or points.ResponsibilitiesEQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:Operate all machines needed to perform assigned work. Power tools include: square shears, nibbler, bending brakes, rollers, drill press, saws, portable tools such as grinders, shears, drills, impact tools, etc. Hand tools include: ratchets and sockets, hammers, open and box end wrenches, adjustable pull lifts, and rivet guns.SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Learn and observe all plant safety rules and regulations. Be alert to the dangers of working with sheet metal and tools.Certain roles at Firestone Polymers are required to be on Emergency Response Teams (ERT) to respond to any emergencies that could come up at the site. Being on the ERT team requires passing a physical and additional trainings, including exterior firefighting, high-angle rescue, HazMat response, etc. The role you’re applying for could require ERT training. It’s also possible that ERT training will be required when moving into new roles or transferring departments.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:Must be in good physical condition. Bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, carrying heavy loads, climbing, work in extreme heat or cold and work in close congested areas.
