Job description

Microboard Processing, Inc. (Microboard), located in Seymour, CT, is a privately held, state‑of‑the‑art Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider with 40 years of experience. The company emphasizes continuous improvement and utilizes advanced equipment, such as FUJI NXT III SMT, automated climate‑controlled inventory towers, 5D X‑Rays, in‑line SPI’s and AOI’s, and on‑site nitrogen generation. Microboard is pursuing global certifications including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485, AS9100D, ISO 14001, CE, UL and ITAR.

SMT OPERATOR – 2nd Shift

Summary: Operate screen printer, paste inspection, pick‑and‑place and reflow oven. Work with group leader, setup person and parts coordinator to set up and run jobs on machines as directed by the supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate and listen effectively in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Identify and solve minor problems and recognize more serious issues requiring supervisor assistance.
  • Maintain good attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Work as a member of a team and function under time pressure.
  • Get along with co‑workers and accept changes in a positive manner.
  • Contribute to a positive, healthy and safe work environment, following MPI, OSHA and SDS safety policies.
  • Proficient with MPI MIS (Aegis) software.
  • Complete Component Identification training.
Qualifications
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of industry experience (or equivalent) for Level I; 1–5 years for Level II; experience with IPC 610 preferred for Level II.
  • Training: fuji‑track and screen‑printer, paste‑inspection, pick‑and‑place, and reflow oven.
  • Capability to train and supervise others.
Level Distinction
I. Operator – Basic Assembly (Level I)
  • Load, print, and unload screen printer and paste inspection machines.
  • Load, operate and unload pick‑and‑place machine.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of feeders.
  • Load and unload reflow oven.
II. Operator – Advanced Assembly (Level II)
  • Perform daily maintenance on machines.
  • Set up and tear down screen printer, load stencil, monitor paste.
  • Set up pick‑and‑place feeders, load programs and perform minor editing.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Fuji‑tracks and analyze management data.
  • Recall proper oven profile and manage inventory for SMT projects.
  • Manage inventory for projects running in SMT.
  • Hand placement of difficult parts.
III. Operator – Expert (Level III)
  • Perform all Level II duties and additional management of setup/team down of complex boards.
  • Provide expert training to others on complex boards.
Technical and Language Skills
  • Read, speak and write English fluently, including the ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Perform basic math operations in all units of measure.
  • Apply common sense in carrying out written, oral or diagram instructions.
  • Deal with simple variable problems in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear frequently.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lb, occasionally up to 25 lb.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and loud noise.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.)
  • Compliance with Microboard policy, Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and OSHA regulations.
