Job summary

Accutron is seeking an SMT Operator to set up, calibrate, and run SMT equipment for PCB assembly. The role involves loading PCBs, programming pick-and-place machines, and inspecting assemblies for defects to meet strict quality standards.

The position requires a high school diploma, SMT certification preferred, and prior electronics manufacturing experience. You will work on-site with opportunities for overtime based on production needs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification in SMT or electronics-related fields (IPC-A-610, J-STD) preferred.
  • Experience with Fuji Aimex3 machines and Mirtec AOIs is necessary.
  • Prior SMT operator or electronics manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of SMT processes, equipment, and troubleshooting expected.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and calibrate SMT machines according to production schedules and work orders.
  • Load, unload, and align PCBs onto machines.
  • Program and operate pick-and-place machines, Mirtec AOI systems, solder paste printers, and reflow ovens.
  • Perform manual component placement as needed to support production.
  • Inspect SMT assemblies for defects and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Run routine maintenance and troubleshoot SMT equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain production records including machine settings and downtime.
  • Monitor equipment performance to support production goals.
  • Comply with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.

The SMT Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment used in the assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role is essential to ensuring efficient production, maintaining product quality, and meeting customer specifications and manufacturing standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and calibrate SMT machines in accordance to production schedules and work orders.
  • Load, unload, and properly align and place PCBs onto machines.
  • Program and operate pick-and-place machines, Mirtec AOI systems, solder paste printers, reflow ovens, and other related SMT equipment.
  • Perform manual component placement tasks as required to support production needs.
  • Inspect SMT assemblies and finished products for defects and irregularities, including misaligned, missing or improperly soldered components, ensuring compliance with qualify standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting on SMT equipment to ensure proper functionality and minimize production downtime.
  • Report any major issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, downtime events, and material usage.
  • Monitor equipment performance to ensure proper machine operation to support production goals.
  • Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, quality requirements, environmental regulations and PPE standards.
Required Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. in compliance with ITAR regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification in SMT or electronics-related fields. (IPC-A-610, J-STD)
  • Experience with Fuji Aimex3 machines and Mirtec AOIs.
  • Prior experience as an SMT operator or in a similar electronics manufacturing role.
  • Knowledge of SMT processes, equipment, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, soldering, and PCB assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with SMT machinery, including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and solder paste printers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills for monitoring machine performance and documenting production data.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical or vocational training in electronics or related field preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Standing for long periods, lifting, and bending is required.
  • Some shifts may involve overtime or weekend work based on production schedules.
