Job summary

Minerals Technologies Inc. seeks a Steel Mill Service Manager for the USA Western Region (Utah/Arizona/Nevada). This role leads all Steel Mill service operations and travels as required to support customers and sites.

Responsibilities include safety, shop ops, and cost control for field services, plus monthly reports and cross‑functional collaboration with MTI and Minteq teams. A strong background in refractory sales and manufacturing is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years’ experience in refractory sales or industrial manufacturing (steelmaking preferred).
• Experience supervising a work group and guiding field operations.
• Strong knowledge of sales, marketing, customer service, and business acumen.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety requirements for the Steel Mill Service force are met.
• Oversee SMS group shop operations, performance, maintenance, parts, inventory, and payroll.
• Drive Operational Excellence and implement unit metrics.
• Manage field operations' financial performance and cost control.

Position:Steel Mill Service Manager

Location:USA | Western Region - Utah/Arizona/Nevada

Summary

The Service Manager role is responsible for all Steel Mill service operations in the designated region.

This position will require travel.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all safety requirements of the Steel Mill Service force


• Managing shop operations, including overseeing the functions of the SMS group (safety, performance management, equipment maintenance, parts, material inventory and payroll).


• Drives Operational Excellence


• Identifying and implementing key metrics outlined by the business unit


• Financial performance of Field Operations including Steel Mill Service cost control


• Provide monthly reporting on Field Operations


• Developing close working relationship with entire customer base and MINTEQ departments, and fully understanding their requirements


• Provide staffing for projects and material trials


• Works closely with HR on company policies and union contracts


• Other duties, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Minimum of five years’ experience in refractory sales or industrial manufacturing (preferably steelmaking). Prior experience supervising a work group. Significant knowledge and experience in sales and marketing, customer service, and business acumen. Good leadership, management, interpersonal and communication skills. Working Conditions: Must be able to withstand the physical pressures of standing, walking, climbing steps, sitting, extremes of hot and cold, as well as being in a dusty, dirty industrial environment. Must be able to gather organize, and analyze data, draw conclusions, and handle stress. Must wear safety equipment where required.

Travel is a requirement of the position. Must possess a valid driver's license.
