Southwest Shipyard, LP is seeking a skilled welder to join our team in Houston. The role focuses on welding and repairing barges and boats, including internal compartments and cargo tanks, with emphasis on achieving full penetration welds.

The job requires operating welding and grinding equipment, passing a welding test, and complying with mandatory drug testing. You must be able to read the Quality Manual and work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in English and able to communicate; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to multitask, learn quickly, and meet deadlines as needed.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Responsabilités

• Grind barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, and external surface areas in preparation for welding.
• Weld barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, external surface areas, and specialty components with required passes for full penetration welds.
• Operate welding & grinding equipment, blowers, hoses, etc., to accomplish weld & repair duties.
• Must pass a welding test to obtain internal skill classification.
