Job summary

Nautique Boat Company in Orlando, FL is seeking a Small Parts Tech (non-exempt) to assist in the construction and preparation of small boat parts, including infusion molding, fiberglass work, and mold maintenance. You will buff, cut, and fit materials, ensure gel coat readiness, and support production teams to keep parts flowing.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work with hand tools, follow supervisor instructions, and maintain a clean, safe work area in a non-climate-controlled

Qualifications

• Experience with infusion molding and fiberglass work in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions; strong attention to detail.
• Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prep molds for infusion, including buffing and applying pre-cut fiberglass.
• Secure fiberglass, cut to fit, and ensure proper coverage of molds.
• Ensure molds are gel coated and ready for infusion; inspect parts for quality.
• Eliminate bubbles in fiberglass and follow supervisor instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and cooperate with team to meet daily targets.
• Follow OSHA and safety procedures; operate and maintain small hand tools as needed.

Job Title:

Small Parts Tech Classification: Non-Exempt Reports To: Small Parts Manager Job Description: Small Parts-Assists in the construction and preparation of small parts, which may require infusion molding, waxing, cleaning, inspecting, cutting fiberglass, and maintaining molds, as well as drilling necessary holes, laminate, sand, and buff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for receiving and prepping the mold for infusion. Requires buffing and laying pre-cut
• Fiberglass onto the mold to make it ready for cutting.
• Responsible for securing fiberglass and cutting to fit the pre-cut fiberglass to ensure proper distribution and covering of mold is complete.
• Responsible for ensuring molds are gel coated properly and ready for infusion.
• Responsible for making sure the part is ready to move on to production.
• Be able to eliminate bubbles in fiberglass once it has been applied.
• Follow instructions of the Supervisor/foreman/lead
• Be able to use small hand tools, including scissors, razors, knives, etc.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly.
• Work with a team to complete daily tasks.
• Light sanding of parts when necessary.
• Inspects all parts so that they are complete and up to quality standards.
• Any other duties as assigned by management.
• Must comply with all OSHA and safety procedures.

Tools used in this occupation include but are not limited to:

• Personal Protective Equipment- Safety Glasses, protective apron, and may need a half-mask or dust/mist respirator.
• Hand Tools- Rollers, sanders, and scissors.
• Working directly with fiberglass, resin, and gel coat.

Knowledge, Education, and Experience includes but is not limited to:

• Be able to drive a forklift.
• Must be able to inspect and identify defects or damage to molds.
• Follow instructions of the Supervisor/foreman/lead.
• Must be able to wear a respirator.
• Be able to use and maintain small hand tools (grinder, scraper, razor knife, blower, etc.).
• Knowledge of production processes and quality control.

Physical and Work Requirements:

• Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature.
• Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
• Must be able to wear proper safety equipment as needed.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
• The ability to see details at close range.
• Be able to use and maintain small hand tools (grinder, scraper, razor knife, blower, etc)
• This is a safety-sensitive position.
