Job summary

Job Overview

Operate small commercial mowers and perform a variety of trimming, edging, blowing and chainsaw work to maintain clean, safe and attractive facility grounds.

Responsibilities

Essential job Duties:

• Operate small commercial mowers to cut and maintain turf areas with consistent quality
• Use string trimmers to maintain edges, fence lines, around obstacles, and hard to reach areas
• Operate edgers to create clean, defined borders along sidewalks, driveways, curbing and landscaped areas
• Use backpack or handheld blowers to clear debris from sidewalks, driveways, patios and work areas
• Inspect equipment before and after use, report and document mechanical or safety issues
• Operate chainsaws for tree/limb removal, brush clearing, and storm cleanup, following best practice felling and bucking techniques
• Provide support as required in grounds maintenance areas, such as spring and fall mulch placement, tree trimming and debris removal
• All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Must be able to drive a truck and possess a valid driver’s license
• Five years’ related experience in grounds maintenance and operations functions
• Be responsible for all activities required for safe, efficient operations within the grounds crew

Physical Requirements:

• Wear PPE gear as required (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, etc)
