Job summary

Ingram Marine Group in St. Louis is seeking an experienced Small Line Boat Captain to lead the crew on our local fleets.

This role goes beyond piloting vessels, demanding strong leadership, safety discipline and the ability to manage operations under company policies and regulatory rules. You will supervise the Mate and Deckhands, ensure navigation is safe and compliant with USCG rules, and coordinate with shore-based leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• USCG Mate/Pilot license or higher.
• Valid FCC Radio License and Radar endorsement/certification required.
• TWIC card required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe crew, vessel and tow operations through use of safety policies.
• Supervise the Mate and Deckhands in consultation with Captain and shore leadership.
• Ensure safe vessel navigation in accordance with navigation rules and strong seamanship.
• Ensure crew compliance with USCG and environmental laws.
• Demonstrate leadership and promote harmony among crew.
• Delegate vessel duties considering crew experience and abilities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Assure safe crew, vessel and tow operations through use of Ingram's' safety systems and policies.


• Supervise the Mate and Deckhands in consultation with the Captain and shore-based leadership.


• Assure safe and efficient vessel navigation through compliance with the \"rules of the road\", practicing good seamanship and boat handling skills.


• Comply with and ensure crew compliance with USCG and environmental laws and regulations.


• Demonstrate felt leadership and promote harmony amongthe crew.


• Delegate vessel responsibilities, duties, and tasksconsidering crew members experience andabilities.


• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Have a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.


• Have a valid driver's license.


• Have a USCG Mate/Pilot license or higher.


• Have a valid FCC Radio License


• Have a Radar endorsement or Radar Certification


• Be CPR & 1stAid Certified


• Have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)


• Have proficient computer skills to include E-mail, internet browsers, and navigational systems
