Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory seeks a part-time Small Group Personal Trainer at the Kroc Center in Phoenix, AZ. You will assess clients, design personalized fitness plans, and guide proper technique across free weights and machines.

You’ll motivate clients, track progress, and help meet revenue and session goals. You’ll conduct initial consultations, collect medical history, and maintain client records while upholding safety and organizational policies.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Three years' experience within the fitness industry which includes knowledge of machine weights, free weights, and cardio equipment; is Certified Instructor (ACE, NASM, ACSM, and NSCA) or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (may be acquired after employment)
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.
• Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Assess fitness by identifying short-erm and long-term fitness issues using physical assessments.
• Develop fitness plans through physical assessment results by designing exercise routines, explaining fitness equipment that combine strength and cardio training, and offering nutritional guidance and accountability through goal-based tracking and monitoring.
• Effective motivation and communication skills, interpersonal skills, sales and marketing skills.
• Train, motivate, and support members and guests. Provide a positive experience by consulting with them on proper techniques in free weights, strength training machines, and functional training exercises that support their efforts to achieve their personal fitness objectives.
• Coach clients and guests on form and movement, helping them focus on and maximize their workout and their positive experience at the fitness center.
• Conduct initial consultation session for new clients to include pre-participation screening, Medical History and Lifestyle, and other questionnaires. Refers client to appropriate personal trainer level based on needs/situation, if necessary.
• Complete and maintain accurate and current client information including: Physician Release Form, Medical History and Lifestyle form, Informed Consent, Release of Liability, Signed Client Policies and Procedures Form, Results of fitness evaluation, Exercise program plan, and Client activity/progress charts.
• Responsible for meeting revenue/sessions and performance goals.
• Build new client base and retain current clients.
• Maintain quality service by following organization standards.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Respond to and report accidents and incidents to Fitness Manager.
• Document maintenance needs and submit to Fitness Manager.
• Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
• Maintain the Code of Ethics policy for the Kroc Center.
• Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned as it relates to the Small Group Personal Trainer position.
