Job summary

Think Together is seeking a High Dosage Tutor to support elementary and middle school students in reading and math after school. The role is part-time and seasonal, with 2–3.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, at a Think Together site in California.

Pay is $20.00 per hour, and duties include small group instruction, progress monitoring, and collaboration with staff. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units or passing a pre-employment

Qualifications

• Proof of graduation from high school or GED required
• 48 college semester or 60 college quarter units or passing a Pre-Employment test required
• Experience working with young children preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides small group and individual interventions for students while helping students master instructional materials
• Engages children and youth by following, and implementing the Intervention curriculum.
• Reads to students, listens to students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
• Accurately scores student assessments and monitors student progress.
• Assists school staff with devising special strategies for reinforcing material based on a understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Alerts the Student and Family Literacy Coordinator of any concerns or special information about individual students.
• Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
• Participates in in-service training sessions as assigned.
• Operates and cares for equipment and instructional materials.
• Keeps daily record information about individual students attendance
• Completes paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Arrives punctually in order to meet responsibilities in site start up and assignments.
• Maintains close communication with Program Analyst regarding planned or emergency absences for the same reason.
• Serves as a positive role model for children in the program through appropriate dress, speech, attitude and courtesy.
• Assists in keeping the site maintained to Think Together standards.
• Complies with organization and site policies and follows procedures.
