Job summary

E&H Hardware Group is seeking a reliable Small Engine Technician to join our service team in Ohio. This role focuses on repair, maintenance, and servicing of mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, generators, and more, with emphasis on accuracy and customer communication.

We offer on‑the‑job training and support to earn Stihl Silver Certification within a year. Full‑time role with benefits and a $1,500 signing bonus paid in installments.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a variety of small engine equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance to keep tools and machinery in top condition
• Test repaired equipment to ensure full functionality and safety
• Maintain service records and equipment documentation
• Order and install parts as needed
• Communicate effectively with customers to understand issues and explain repair needs
• Provide guidance on equipment care and recommend maintenance
• Assist with selection of replacement parts and accessories
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe
• Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a secure work environment
• Stay current on small engine technologies and repair methods
• Attend required manufacturer trainings and pursue relevant certifications

$1,500 Signing Bonus

E&H Ace Hardware is seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Small Engine Technician to join our service team. This role focuses on the repair, maintenance, and servicing of small engine equipment—including mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, generators, and more. If you have strong problem-solving skills, a mechanical mindset, and a desire to help customers keep their equipment running smoothly, we want to hear from you.

We’re open to training candidates with the right mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic. Whether you're experienced or just getting started, you'll have access to training and certification, including Stihl Silver Certification within your first year.

Signing Bonus

We’re now offering a $1,500 signing bonus for new full-time Small Engine Technicians!

The bonus is paid in three installments:

• $500 after 90 days of employment
• $500 after 180 days of employment
• $500 after 270 days of employment

What You’ll Do:

Repair & Maintenance

• Diagnose and repair a variety of small engine equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance to keep tools and machinery in top condition
• Test repaired equipment to ensure full functionality and safety
• Maintain service records and equipment documentation
• Order and install parts as needed

Customer Interaction

• Communicate effectively with customers to understand issues and explain repair needs
• Provide guidance on equipment care and recommend appropriate maintenance
• Assist with selection of replacement parts and accessories

Shop Maintenance & Safety

• Keep the shop clean, organized, and free of safety hazards

Training & Technical Growth

• Stay current on small engine technologies and new repair methods
• Attend required manufacturer trainings and pursue relevant certifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certifications in small engine repair preferred but not required
• On-the-job training available for motivated, mechanically inclined individuals

Other Requirements

• Satisfactory background check required
• Must be willing to travel for training (including overnight stays)
• Completion of Stihl Silver Certification within 12 months of hire
