Job summary

Truckee Rents is seeking a Small Equipment Mechanic in Truckee to inspect, maintain, and repair rental and customer-owned equipment such as snowblowers and chainsaws. You will ensure safety, reliability, and performance while supporting daily rental operations and delivering excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment; candidates must have experience with 2-cycle engines and be 100%

Qualifications

• Must be able to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must communicate effectively in English.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs with or without assistance.
• Must be able to use a ladder safely.
• Able to operate in a fast-paced, confined environment and multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on rental and customer-owned equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is safe and in working order.
• Assess performance and safety compliance prior to rental or return to service.
• Communicate clearly with customers about issues, timelines, and work performed.
• Prepare accurate labor and parts estimates for internal and external work.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, hours, and parts used.
• Educate customers on operation and preventative maintenance to extend equipment life.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.
• Collaborate with team to prioritize tasks and support shop and rental operations.
• Keep up-to-date on small engine tech and repair techniques.
• Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
