Job summary

The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) invites a graduate student intern to join the Small Cap Team in Madison for a roughly 10-week period starting late May/early June 2027. You will support fundamental analysis, stock selection, and valuation under senior investment professionals.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a graduate degree in Business with a strong academic record, a passion for investing, and familiarity with the investing process.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a graduate degree in Business with focus on accounting or finance.
  • Strong academic record and independent, team-oriented work style.
  • Familiar with investing processes and financial modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply investment process to generate alpha vs. a benchmark.
  • Perform fundamental business model assessment and valuation of securities.
  • Use relative valuation and quantitative methods to assess investments.
  • Analyze long/short equity opportunities and options strategies as appropriate.
  • Monitor quarterly earnings and evaluate investment views.
  • Interact with analysts and company management to form opinions.
  • Generate and pitch new investment ideas for sectors.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
