Position Title

Position Overview

This position covers underwriting for Direct, Indirect, and Small Business Lending. The incumbent is primarily responsible for new loan application analysis, underwriting, and declination review. The role is critical to the acquisition of loan assets and the achievement of long‑term company goals through disciplined risk management.

After a minimum of 90 days in the department’s introductory period, the employee may become eligible for a full work‑from‑home schedule, subject to business needs and departmental guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Reviews loan applications from consumers and small businesses within the bank’s delivery and dealer channels to assess risk and determine acceptance.
  • Verifies all application information for accuracy and completeness by validating loan data against provided documentation.
  • Orders documentation to reduce the bank’s potential risk of loss, considering repayment capacity, collateral valuations, credit histories, banking relationships, and regulatory impact.
  • Develops and administers a portfolio of loans, obtaining approvals within established lending authority and guidelines.
  • Maintains bank credit quality, profitability, growth, and service objectives while keeping delinquency and loss ratios acceptable.
  • Builds partnerships with loan processors and branch personnel to improve customer satisfaction and maintains relationships with originators and business development officers.
  • Performs tax return analysis and financial statement review to evaluate borrower repayment capacity; compiles credit histories, personal and business financial statements, tax returns, collateral valuations, and other financial information.
  • Analyzes and structures commercial credit transactions, including C&I loans, investment real estate, working capital lines, equipment financing, and vehicle loans.
  • Resolves customer and branch inquiries, documents information, and recommends solutions that comply with regulatory requirements and bank policies.
  • Ensures lien perfection, insurance protection, and compliance with loan policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with regulations regarding loan approvals, declinations, and required customer notifications within established timeframes.
  • Approves loans up to and including the assigned lending authority.
  • Performs related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Serves as a risk manager by understanding, reporting, and monitoring risks encountered daily in accordance with F.N.B. Corporation’s risk management program.
  • Supports superior compliance by adhering to regulatory laws, guidelines, and company procedures.

  • Ability to assess repayment capacity, collateral strength, and overall credit risk in support of prudent lending decisions
