Qualifications

  • At least 4 years’ experience troubleshooting Small Arms/Night Vision and MK38 systems aboard US Navy ships.
  • Naval CRANE Night Vision Inspection & Testing Certification with hands-on experience.
  • Must have NEC 779B for MK38 MOD Gun Weapon System Technician.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain security clearance; active clearance desired.
  • Ability to navigate ships and confined spaces for inspections and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite engineering evaluations, perform functional checks of Small Arms/Night Vision devices.
  • Formulate findings and briefings for TYCOM, ISEA, MARMC, and Ship’s Force.
  • Provide OBMT to Ship's Force technicians for MK38 MOD 2 Gun System operation and maintenance.
  • Support shipboard Combat Systems tasks including refurbishments and related programs.
  • Operate effectively under stressful conditions to meet ship mission requirements.

Job description

SCMI1 has an exciting opportunity for an Electronics Technician Maintenance II position focused on the working as part of our team supporting the Mid‑Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 294 Surface Fire Control / Gun Branch, providing Small Arms/Night Vision and MK38 Gun Support engineering and technical support services on U.S. Naval Ships in port and underway at U.S. Naval facilities and shipyards.

Job Description/Responsibilities:
  • Provide onsite support to conduct specified engineering/technical evaluations, perform equipment functional checks, and assessments of Small Arms and Night Vision devices.
  • Formulate and present findings, briefings, status reports, and correspondence for all stakeholders such as TYCOM, ISEA, MARMC, and Ship’s Force.
  • Provide OBMT to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, repair, maintenance, and logistics support of the MK 38 MOD 2 Gun System.
  • Perform/provide support during shipboard Combat Systems tasks including Pier Side Refurbishments, C5RA, CSPAT, ICMP, TSRA, INSURV programs and Tech Assist events.
  • Duties may require rapid results in a stressful environment in order to meet ship’s mission requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • At least 4 years’ experience in troubleshooting, repair, and assessment of Small Arms/Night Vision and MK38 MOD 2 Gun systems found onboard US Navy ships.
  • Candidates must also possess Naval Surface Warfare Center Division, CRANE Night Vision Inspection & Testing Certification, with a minimum of two (2) years hands‑on experience in performing Small Arms Weapons inspections and Night Vision Device inspections.
  • Must possess the following NEC: 779B - 25mm Machine Gun System (MGS) MK 38 MOD Gun Weapon System (GWS) Technician.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain security clearance and clearing necessary background checks/assessments as required. Active high-level Security Clearance will be required, and current Security Clearance is desired.
  • Physical requirements for efficient navigation aboard US Navy ships includes possessing the physical stamina, strength, agility, and endurance to walk continuously for extended periods of time without experiencing significant fatigue, adequate upper and lower-body strength necessary to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and work aloft, and agility necessary to enter/exit confined spaces (tanks, voids, and spaces/compartments with manhole access).
