POSITION

Speech and Language Pathologist

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Augmentative/Alternative Communication Systems and Computer Technology
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct assignment to the Building Principal for routine administrative matters and to the Supervisor of Special Education for the delivery of services identified in the IEP, and related program issues.
  • Perform all duties listed herein and other appropriate tasks assigned by the Special Education Supervisor.
  • In cooperation wit the Evaluation TEAM Chairperson, the School Psychologist and such other special needs staff members, performs diagnostic assessments of children suspected of or diagnosed as having special needs, speech, language and voice problems, including children who would use adaptive technology devices for augmentative communication.
  • In cooperation with the Evaluation TEAM Chairperson, consult regularly with regular and special education teachers regarding ways to meet the needs of those special needs students assigned to the classrooms and instruct teachers with assistive technology and augmentative communication devices.
  • Participate actively in the Evaluation process and TEAM meetings.
  • Assist in the development of appropriate educational plans as directed by the Evaluation TEAM chairperson.
  • Insure the orderly and timely implementation of Individual Educational Plans.
  • Provide speech and language therapy on an individual or group basis.
  • Serve as a consultant to teachers in the area of speech and language for students who are enrolled in regular special classes; pre-referral services are included.
  • Report the progress of the student to the parent, teacher and other concerned personnel on a scheduled basis.
  • Report as liaison between the parent, teacher and other school staff in the area of speech and language.
  • Submit to the Principal, the Director, the Supervisor of Special Education, all schedules and reports as required
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY

In accordance with the Fall River Educators' Association contract. Continued employment is contingent on work performance, program need, and funding.
