Valmont Industries is hiring a Slitter Operator 7 for the Valley, NE facility. The role operates the entry side of the slitter machine, sets up arbors, and ensures precise fan-out and quality in production on the 3rd shift (Sun–Thu, 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.).

The position offers a clear path to Slitter Operator 9 within two years with opportunities for advancement, and includes competitive hourly pay plus an additional shift differential. Benefits are provided as part of the total wellbeing program.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years relevant work experience.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Ability to learn shag truck operations.
• Ability to convert fractions to decimals.
• The ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner.
• The ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50lbs with the most frequent lift under 21 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Position coils for slitting and operate the machine from stations 1 and 2.
• Perform set ups on the slitter arbors and inspect arbors after setup.
• Set up separator discs and spacers to ensure proper fan out on the overarm.
• Operate uncoiler, hold-down roller, peeler table, flattener roller, crop shear, pinch rolls, side guides, and slitter head.
• Transport coils to mills with a shag truck as needed.
• Maintain inventory records and ensure compliance with quality control standards.

This position also performs set up on the slitter arbors. This includes using setup software correctly, building, and inspecting arbors once setup is complete. Checks horizontal and vertical clearances. Sets up separator discs and spacers to ensure proper fan out on the overarm. Operates uncoiler, hold-down roller, peeler table, flattener roller, crop shear, pinch rolls, side guides, & slitter head. This position may also support operations by transporting coils to the mills using a shag truck and trailer. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with quality control standards.
