Job summary

Giro Pack, Inc. in Vidalia, GA is hiring a Slitter Operator to support production operations with initial training Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm. After training, the role shifts to 2nd shift (2:00 pm–10:00 pm) or 3rd shift (10:00 pm–6:00 am) Monday–Friday.

The operator will ensure safe, efficient slitting machine operation and contribute to overall packaging production. Responsibilities include operating machinery, completing forms, maintaining equipment, and following safety rules.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Very good vision and attention to detail.
• Plastics Injection Molding/Warehouse experience is an asset, but not necessary.
• Must be able/willing to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operate slitting machines safely and report issues promptly to supervisor/maintenance.
• Complete required production forms and maintain records.
• Maintain/set machine tensions and speeds per material requirements.
• Change and replace bobbins as needed and verify batch sheets.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow procedures.
• Follow planning orders and work priorities.

Job description

Giro Pack, Inc. is hiring a Slitter Operator to support production operations at our Vidalia, GA. location. Currently the selected candidate will be trained Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, once training is completed the candidate will work 2nd shift, Monday - Friday (2:00pm -10pm) or 3rd Shift, Monday - Friday (10pm - 6am).

The Slitter Operator plays an integral part in the manufacturing of products within the fruit/vegetable packaging industry and is responsible for the safe/efficient operation of the slitting machines.

Slitter Operator job duties include:

• Ensuring slitting machines are operated correctly and report any shortcomings to the supervisor/maintenance in a timely manner
• Complete required production forms
• Maintain/Lube production machinery as needed
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Control and set up machine tensions/speed according to material requirements
• Change and/or replace bobbins as needed
• Verify bobbin batch sheet data/format and drying times
• Create box/pallet/RFID labels to matching product
• Follow planning order and work priorities
• Clean machines according to procedures
• Report all safety/equipment concerns to manager immediately
• Move scrap/defective material to proper location
• Conduct other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements and skills:
