Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate steel slitting lines according to specifications.
  • Monitor slitting operations to ensure product quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of slitting equipment.
  • Install and adjust slitter knives, spacers, arbors, and tooling to meet required tolerances.
  • Monitor slitting operations to ensure product quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.
  • Perform in-process inspections, measure slit widths, and verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot operational issues, equipment malfunctions, or material defects.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping of slitting equipment and work areas.
  • Accurately complete production reports, quality documentation, and safety checklists.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and warehouse teams to meet production goals.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Slitter Operator to join our manufacturing team onsite in CAMDEN, NJ. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining slitting equipment used to process flat-rolled steel into customer-specified widths and tolerances. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity in a fast-paced steel processing environment.

Duties

  • Set up and operate steel slitting lines according to work orders, specifications, and production schedules
  • Read and interpret work orders, coil tags, blueprints, and customer specifications
  • Load, unload, and position steel coils using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment
  • Install and adjust slitter knives, spacers, arbors, and tooling to meet required tolerances
  • Monitor slitting operations to ensure product quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish
  • Perform in-process inspections, measure slit widths, and verify compliance with quality standards

  • Basic math skills for calculating measurements, tolerances, and material quantities
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials safely and operate machinery for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts as required
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature changes
