Job summary

Chicago-Steel-Holdings-LLC in Gary, IN is seeking a Slitter Helper to support our steel service center. Responsibilities include setting up recoiler, slitter, and burr-free operation while inspecting steel for defects. Candidates must have slitting experience and be able to work all shifts.

A High School diploma or equivalent and basic computer knowledge are required. Forklift operation and familiarity with steel defects are pluses.

Qualifications

• Past slitting experience (3yr minimum).
• Must be able to work any shift (morning, afternoon, night, graveyard).
• High School diploma or equivalency.
• General computer knowledge.
• Past experience in steel warehousing.
• Ability to operate a forklift as needed.
• Ability to read tape measure, micrometer, and caliper.
• Knowledge of steel related defects.
• Team Player.

• Setup slitter for accurate slitting according to work order.

• Change slitter heads for job change over.
