New Sleep Lab
Position Summary:

The Sleep Technologist is responsible for conducting overnight sleep studies and diagnostic testing to evaluate and treat sleep disorders. Working under the supervision of a physician, this role monitors patients, collects and analyzes physiological data, and ensures accurate documentation to support diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy.

Education, Training, and Certification
  • High school diploma or GE.
  • Associate degree in polysomnography, respiratory therapy, or a related field preferred.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience
  • One year of experience working as a sleep technologist in a medical practice.
  • Previous experience with pediatric and adults preferred.
Skills

  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Demonstrable analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures and applying monitoring equipment.
  • Conduct overnight polysomnography (PSG) studies and other sleep disorder tests.
  • Monitor and record physiological data, including brain waves, oxygen levels, heart rate, breathing patterns, and limb movements.
  • Recognize and respond to sleep-related events and patient needs during studies.
  • Perform CPAP/BiPAP titration studies as ordered by the physician.
  • Score sleep studies in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of sleep lab equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and study documentation.
  • Adhere to safety, infection control, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Educate patients on sleep study procedures, equipment use, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
