Job summary

Western Missouri Medical Center in Missouri is seeking a qualified Sleep Technologist (RPSGT) to join the Sleep Center team. You will perform nighttime sleep testing and EEGs, assist with scoring, and maintain proficiency in sleep study acquisition and treatment modalities.

The role requires BLS certification and a high school diploma, with preference for previous night-shift Sleep Tech or sleep clinic experience. You will participate in QA/QI projects and support center operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
  • Current AHA or Red Cross BLS is required.
  • Experience working as a Night Shift Sleep Technologist preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a Sleep Clinic setting preferred but not required.
  • Experience performing routine EEGs preferred but not required.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to follow hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing nighttime sleep testing and EEGs.
  • Responsible for assisting with scoring of sleep studies.
  • Maintain competent performance in all aspects of sleep study acquisition, scoring, and treatment modalities.
  • Adhere to all Sleep Center policies/procedures.
  • Practice in accordance with normal sleep center practice, regulatory agencies, and the patient’s plan of care/condition/needs.
  • Involved in QA/QI projects as requested.
  • Use inventory of supplies judiciously.
  • Adhere to equipment cleaning protocols.
  • Assist in the evaluation of capital budget item supplies.
  • Model the ASPIRE values.
  • Proficient in the use of AIDET.
  • Assist co-workers as needed/requested.
  • Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively.
  • Assist with daily operations of the Sleep Center.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Sleep Technologist is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). The Sleep Technologist promotes and delivers competent, quality care, and is highly experienced in all aspects of Sleep Center operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Responsible for performing nighttime sleep testing and EEGs.

  • Responsible for assisting with scoring of sleep studies.

  • Maintain competent performance in all aspects of sleep study acquisition, scoring, and treatment modalities.

  • Adhere to all Sleep Center policies/procedures.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).

  • Current AHA or Red Cross BLS is required.

  • Experience working as a Night Shift Sleep Technologist preferred but not required.

  • Experience working in a Sleep Clinic setting preferred but not required.

  • Experience performing routine EEGs preferred but not required.

  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.

  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.

  • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.

  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.

  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.

  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.

  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
