Job summary

UNC Health Rex Neurology Sleep Laboratory in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Sleep Tech II to join our team. The Sleep Tech II conducts standard and advanced electroneurodiagnostic tests in polysomnography, with potential float support to other Sleep Disorders Labs and eligibility for night shift differentials.

The role requires managing room/equipment setup, scoring tests, and guiding junior technologists, with emphasis on patient preparation and accurate testing procedures. Night schedule offered.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology.
• Licensure/Certification: EEG, EP, CNIM, NCV, Polysomnography (RPSGT), RST.
• If not graduating from an acceptable Neurophysiology program, two years of Sleep/Neurodiagnostics experience required.

Responsibilities

• May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic and/or Sleep Disorders Lab.
• Performs diagnostic testing EEG, EMG, NCV, EP, and polysomnographic testing with possible oxygen therapy and CPAP.
• Performs room and equipment set-up and placement in hospital rooms, operating rooms, or clinics; calibrates and maintains equipment.
• Reads and scores neurodiagnostic and/or polysomnographic tests.
• Takes patient histories; informs patients and families on test preparation, pre-test interviews, and follow-up appointments.

Summary

Rex Neurology Sleep Laboratory is hiring a Sleep Tech II to join their team! The Sleep Tech II performs standard and complex electroneurodiagnostic tests in polysomnographic testing on patients in the Sleep Disorders Lab. Primary pork may be performed in a lab, clinic, patient bedside, or operating room. This position may also be responsible for providing float support to other Sleep Disorders Labs if necessary. Eligible for night shift differentials!

Responsibilities

1. May provide instruction and guidance to other technologists in the Neurodiagnostic and/or Sleep Disorders Lab.
2. Performs diagnostic patient testing electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction velocities (NCV), sensory evoked potentials (EP), and polysomnographic testing with possible oxygen therapy and continuous positive air pressure treatments (CPAP).
3. Performs room and equipment set-up and placement in hospital rooms, operating rooms, or clinics. Calibrates and maintains equipment.
4. Reads and scores neurodiagnostic and/or polysomnographic tests.
5. Takes patient histories. Instruct patients and families on test preparation, pre-test interviews, and follow-up appointments

• Registered in one of the following specialty areas:
• EEG (Electroencecephalogram- R. EEG T., CLTM)
• EP (Evoked Potentials-R. EP T.)
• Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM)
• Nerve Conduction Velocity studies (NCV)
• Polysomnography (RPSGT)
• Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)

Professional Experience Requirements:

• If completion of an acceptable program of Neurophysiology: No prior experience required.
• Requires High School Diploma if no graduation from an acceptable program of Neurophysiology and two (2) years of experience performing a variety of Sleep or Neurodiagnostics procedures.
