Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Sleep Technician to operate polysomnography equipment, interact with patients, and ensure high-quality sleep studies. You will calibrate devices, monitor tests, and interpret data under supervision by sleep professionals.

The role requires ASTEP or equivalent training or CPSGT credential, with opportunities for advancement in a hospital sleep lab setting. Excellent safety and patient education skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Completion of ASTEP or an equivalent sleep technology program affiliated with a state-licensed or nationally accredited facility.
  • Six months of experience as a sleep trainee with proficiency in required competencies.
  • CPSGT credential or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate and monitor recording equipment for PSG, MSLT, HSAT to ensure artifact-free tracings.
  • Interviews patients about medications, caffeine/alcohol, sleep patterns; collect data.
  • Titrate CPAP/BIPAP and other therapies; detect and correct equipment malfunctions.
  • Interpret polysomnogram data and educate patients on HSAT procedures.
  • Prepare insurance paperwork and manage lab supplies; maintain lab area.
