Job summary

Tomball Regional Medical Center is seeking a polysomnographic technologist to perform intensive nocturnal monitoring and, when indicated, diurnal testing for patients with sleep disorders. The role requires independent work, detailed documentation, and sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include operating sleep study equipment, communicating with patients and staff, and adhering to safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications

  • Judgment and independent decision-making in patient care scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor physiologic and neurological parameters during sleep studies.

  • Communicate findings and instructions to patients and staff.
  • Maintain safety and infection control practices in the testing environment.
  • Respond to emergencies and unpredictable situations during shifts.

Job Summary

Performs intensive nocturnal and, if indicated, diurnal monitoring of physiologic and neurological parameters in patients of varying ages and medical conditions who are referred for sleep dysfunctions. Testing is performed in accordance with the standards of practice as defined by Tomball Regional Medical Center and the Association of Sleep Disorders Centers. The polysomnographic technologist works independently, utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments and demonstrates good judgment and decision making in the treatment and handling of the individual patient.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment
  • Trouble‑shoot medical equipment

  • Maintain sufficient noise levels to avoid distraction or hearing loss
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases
  • Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment
  • Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals
  • Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit environment
  • Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances

Qualifications
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate
