Job summary

Fairmont Breakers in Long Beach seeks a professional server to deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring beverage accuracy with knowledge of the menu and hotel offerings.

The role requires prior luxury or high-volume service, strong communication, and reliable attendance. Training, growth opportunities, and staff perks are provided in a dynamic, upscale environment.

Qualifications

Job Description

SUMMARY

To sell and service food and or beverage to include the order-taking and delivery of any food and or beverage items. To prepare beverages for guests and co-workers following Fairmont Breakers’ recipes and guidelines for preparation, presentation and accountability in a cost-efficient manner. To ensure compliance with all liquor laws. These tasks are to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Include but are not limited to the following:

• To uphold the Fairmont Breakers values and mission statement while performing positional responsibilities.
• To adhere to company policy and procedures, as stated in the company handbook
• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
• Extensive food, liquor, beer, wine and cocktail knowledge
• Prepare basic beverages for guest service up to and including basic cocktails
• Interact with guests in a way that makes them feel special
• Proper and friendly service when in contact with all guests
• Comply with liquor laws
• Maintain accountability, both personal and financial
• Control bar costs
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar prep area and bar
• Control cost and waste
• Close out paper work thoroughly
• Maintain extensive knowledge of menu, food preparation techniques
• Be pro-active by assisting co-workers
• Support and assist Managers
• Be proficient with all aspects and services of the property
• Be familiar with all food outlets and amenities within the property
• Be knowledgeable of general city information as well as hotel history
• Personal and financial accountability
• Be an ambassador for the department, the property and the brand
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Previous customer service experience required preferably in upscale setting
• Previous point of sale system experience preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Highly responsible and reliable. Can work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a small team and independently
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Successful completion of server position training program
• Must Pass Food, Beverage and Service Knowledge Quizzes
• Must have previous experience serving in a luxury environment
• Must have previous experience serving in a high-volume environment

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Must speak and understand English
• Be able to read and write in English to facilitate communications

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Cash handling skills are necessary
• Basic math skills

REASONING ABILITY

• Must be able to communicate clearly and listen attentively to guests, management and co-workers
• Must demonstrate use of good judgment

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Must be able to obtain Food handlers certification
• Must be able to obtain TIPs or Alcohol Safety Certification
