Job summary

SKIMS is seeking a Design Associate, Kids to support the design team in creating innovative, comfort-driven children’s apparel. You will assist from concept through production, focusing on fit, quality, and details to bring seasonal collections to life.

Work closely with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising and Production to execute collections, prepare materials, and maintain design documentation in a fast-paced global brand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• 1–3 years of apparel design experience, preferably kids or intimates.
• Solid understanding of garment construction and fabric science.

Position Summary

The Design Associate, Kids supports the design team in creating innovative, comfort-driven apparel that reflects the SKIMS brand while meeting the unique needs of children across multiple age groups. This role assists throughout the design process-from concept through production, helping bring seasonal collections to life with a strong focus on fit, functionality, quality, and attention to detail.

Working closely with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Merchandising, and Production, the Design Associate will help execute seasonal collections, prepare presentation materials, maintain design documentation, and contribute to product innovation. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented designer looking to grow within a fast-paced, global brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design team throughout the seasonal product development process from concept to production.
• Assist in designing apparel across multiple Kids categories, including underwear, loungewear, sleepwear, basics, activewear, and seasonal capsules.
• Create and update sketches, technical flats, CADs, colorways, and presentation materials.
• Prepare and maintain accurate tech packs, line sheets, and design documentation.
• Conduct trend, market, competitive, and consumer research to identify new product opportunities.
• Assist in developing seasonal color palettes, prints, graphics, trims, fabrics, and construction details.
• Organize and maintain design libraries, fabric archives, color standards, and sample inventory.
• Support fittings by preparing samples, taking notes, tracking revisions, and updating design documents.
• Partner closely with Product Development and Technical Design to ensure products maintain design intent throughout development.
• Review prototypes and samples, providing feedback on design, construction, fit, quality, and functionality.
• Assist with seasonal presentations, merchandising reviews, and cross-functional meetings.
• Help track seasonal calendars and ensure design deliverables are completed on time.
• Stay informed on emerging trends, fabric innovations, and developments within the children's apparel market.
• Support special projects and additional design initiatives as needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of apparel design experience or relevant internships, preferably within children's apparel, intimates, or ready-to-wear.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, fit, and apparel development.
• Experience creating CADs, technical flats, and design presentations.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with PLM systems is preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
