Job summary

DABS, Inc. is seeking a Skills Instructor to work directly with adults with developmental disabilities, helping them build essential skills for employment, education, and community participation. You will guide person-centered activities and support ongoing growth across diverse settings.

You will document progress, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and help individuals access resources while promoting dignity and independence in their daily lives. Training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
• Willingness to undergo a state and federal fingerprint background check.
• CPR certification and a recent TB test are preferred (assistance to obtain if needed).

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered instruction through planned community activities.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, planning engaging activities, and strengthening their skill sets.
• Take individuals on community outings for appointments, errands, or recreational days.
• Track and document progress with accurate case notes.
• Redirect inappropriate behaviors and facilitate positive resolutions.
• Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure comprehensive support.

As a Skills Instructor, you'll work directly with adults with developmental disabilities, helping them cultivate essential skills for successful employment, meaningful volunteer work, pursuing post-secondary education, and active community participation in various settings to achieve greater independence.

What You'll Do

• Provide person-centered instruction through planned community activities.
• Support individuals in accessing community resources, planning engaging activities, and strengthening their skill sets.

• Take individuals on community outings -whether for appointments, errands, or just to enjoy the day.
• Track and document progress, capturing accurate and concise case notes.
• Redirect inappropriate behaviors and facilitate positive resolutions to challenges.
• Work collaboratively with a team of professionals to ensure comprehensive support.

What You Bring

• A caring heart and a commitment to helping others live with dignity and independence.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• A valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and insurance.
• Willingness to undergo a state and federal fingerprint background check.
• CPR Certification and a recent TB test (we can help you obtain both if needed).
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus - but if you bring passion and dedication, we'll provide the training.
