Job summary

Webster is seeking a production welder to assemble and weld metal parts on the production line with limited welding technique requirements. You will operate spot, hand, electric, or gas welding equipment and assist in prep work and quality checks.

The role includes safety-focused responsibilities, occasional heavy lifting, and competitive union-shop benefits such as a 401k match and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Welding on production line experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret basic specs and diagrams.
• Strong manual dexterity and safe operating practices.

Responsibilities

• Welds or tack welds metal parts together using spot or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment.
• Connect hoses from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and operate valves.
• Ignites torch and regulates gas/air flow to achieve desired flame temperature, size and color.
• Preheats work pieces preparatory to welding or bending with a torch.
• Fills cavities or corrects malformations in lead parts and hammers out bulges and bends in metal work pieces.
• Examines work piece for defects and measures with straightedge or template to ensure conformity with specs.
• Dismantles metal assemblies or cuts scrap metal using flame-cutting or plasma-arc equipment.
