Job summary

Spirax-Sarco in Blythewood, SC, is seeking a Welder/Fitter to join a high-ambition team dedicated to safe, efficient fabrication and maintenance. The role focuses on ASME-compliant piping, vessel fabrication, and hydrotest packages within a collaborative plant environment.

Responsibilities include welding carbon and stainless steel, reading 3D/2D drawings, operating cranes, and contributing to CI initiatives. A strong background in GTAW and GMAW with appropriate certifications is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with ASME standards in piping, boiler, or vessel fabrication/maintenance/construction.
• Ability to pass ASME 6G/X‑ray certification.
• 2" Sch XXS GTAW
• 3/8" Sch 80 GTAW
• 6" Sch 80 GMAW (Short Circuit Root, Pulse Fill & Cap)

Responsibilities

• Fabrication & Welding
• Perform Butt and Socket Welds in carbon and stainless steel.
• Fabricate pipe spools, structural frames, and holding tanks.
• Produce strong, clean, quality welds using GMAW and GTAW techniques.
• Use cutting torch, saw, and other welding tools/machines proficiently.
• Hand or machine thread pipe ranging from " to 2".
• Conduct and detail daily in-process fabrication surveillances.
• Perform and detail hydrotest verification.
• Complete final welding, mechanical, and dimensional inspections.
• Verify CMTR and material attributes meet ASME Section II requirements.
• Read and interpret 3D and 2D dimensional drawings to determine pipe routing, layout for cuts, and equipment placement.
• Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Assemble and implement hydrotest packages.
• Use computer systems to track production and business-related activities.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks as needed.
• Collaborate actively with colleagues to achieve team goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
