Job summary

Cherubini Bridges and Structures, a member of the Cherubini Group of Companies, is seeking a Skilled Material Handler for our Dartmouth, NS site. The role focuses on safely loading, unloading, moving and staging steel materials in the shop and yard.

You will operate forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment, following strict safety procedures and keeping work areas organized and hazard-free. Experience in steel handling and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience handling steel in industrial/manufacturing environment is required.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Overhead crane experience.
• Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, and material-handling techniques.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/move materials up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, move, and stage steel materials in the shop and yard.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
• Handle steel products of varying sizes and weights using safe lifting and rigging practices.
• Prepare materials for shipping, including stacking, wrapping, and securing loads.
• Assist with inventory activities such as counting, weighing, and identifying materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Summary

The Skilled Material Handler is responsible for safely loading, unloading, moving, staging, and preparing steel materials within the shop and yard. This role requires prior experience handling steel in an industrial or manufacturing environment and the ability to operate material-handling equipment. The Skilled Material Handler is expected to follow all safety procedures, use proper lifting techniques, and support efficient shop operations.

Job Duties
