W-L Construction and Paving, a CRH company, in Chilhowie, VA, is seeking a Laborer to support roadway construction duties including shoveling, sweeping, raking, and material handling. This role requires physical work in varying weather and a teamwork-focused mindset.

Starting pay is $19.50 per hour. You will partner with the crew, use handheld tools, and help meet daily schedules. Flagger Certification will be obtained during new hire orientation. Equal opportunity employer.

Job Description Summary

• Application, including shoveling, sweeping, raking, mechanical assistance, lifting, pushing and pulling of various objects. Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions. Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
• Starting Pay $19.50 per hour

Requirements

• Must partner with crew members per plan specifications, and if need be, perform tasks of other positions as instructed by crew foreman to ensure daily schedules/estimates are met.
• Usage of various handheld tools.
• Attendance required according to attendance policy to ensure crew ability to operate at a normal efficiency level.
• Physical ability to shovel and to rake asphalt, stone, and dirt, as well as, manage traffic flow under extreme temperatures and for extended periods of time.
• Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completions.
• Attitude/cooperation: always maintain courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and the general public.
• Flagger Certification is an essential function of the job and certification will be required to be obtained during new hire orientation.

• Previous experience.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
