Job summary

Armstrong World Industries is hiring a Crating & Material Handling Operator for 2nd shift. You will build wooden crates, skids, and custom packaging while handling materials to support manufacturing flow. Emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to drawings and specifications is essential.

The role requires ability to read shop drawings, operate saws and pneumatic tools, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams. Prior carpentry or woodworking experience is helpful; training provided.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in carpentry, crate/skid building or woodworking is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with power tools and measuring equipment is advantageous.
• Ability to read shop drawings and follow structured fabrication instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety in all tasks and follow company policies and SOPs.
• Read and interpret shop drawings and production layouts with accuracy.
• Build and assemble wooden crates, skids and packaging per drawings and specifications.
• Cut lumber to precise tolerances using saws and cutting equipment.
• Inspect assemblies for structural integrity, dimensions and quality.
