Job summary

The City of Whittier is seeking a Concrete Finisher to perform a range of concrete construction and repair tasks in the street maintenance division. Primary duties include forming, finishing, and repairing sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and related structures, with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Qualifications include two years of public works concrete experience, ability to read plans, and proficiency with hand tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• Two years of public works construction experience with concrete work.
• Knowledge of safety precautions and traffic control for work zones.
• Ability to read plans, blueprints, sketches and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Break up and remove damaged concrete and prepare surfaces.
• Read and interpret plans; lay out jobs and form concrete forms.
• Spread and finish concrete; strip forms and backfill.
• Operate jackhammer, saw, grinder and related tools safely.
• Maintain equipment and follow safety procedures on site.
