Job summary

The incumbent will apply skilled carpentry methods, read complex plans, and work with various hand and power tools to deliver precise fits and durable structures. Safety is emphasized in all tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience: evidence of training or experience in carpentry and related skills.
• Ability to interpret complex building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches and codes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices and use of carpentry tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, alterations and renovations in Building Maintenance Shop.
• Independently apply skilled methods and techniques to construct, install and modify structures.
• Work on building frames, rafters, walls, doors/windows, trim, and related components.
• Plan layouts from initial drawings to final assembly applying blueprints and codes.
• Select tools, equipment and materials; determine repair approaches.
• Maintain safety standards and a clean work environment.
• Operate woodworking machines and a variety of hand/power tools.
• Follow supervisor guidance and undertake higher quality carpentry tasks at journeyman level.
