Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Production Test Technician – Level 1 or Level 2 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and follows a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some 12-hour shifts may be required.

You will operate test racks, set up test apparatus, read schematics, and collaborate with Test Engineering. Level 1 requires a HS diploma; Level 2 requires 2 years of related experience and ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Level 2 needs 2 years of related experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs and operate basic test equipment.
• Basic computer proficiency (MS Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Windchill or similar system experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate EGSE test racks and mate/demate cables for avionics and box-level testing.
• Set up test apparatus and conduct tests for CCAs and avionics boxes.
• Lay out and assemble units for production equipment per designs/specifications.
• Adjust and calibrate systems as needed; use hand tools and measuring devices.
• Read and interpret schematics/engineering drawings to fabricate fixtures/components.
• Conduct tests and report data in prescribed formats; follow test procedures.
• Work flexible schedules including extended shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities for this internship position are: Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. During this program the service member will be on‑site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid‑level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program. Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship‑style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full‑time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high‑speed, motivated military candidates into NGC. Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities. Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Production Test Technician – Level 1 or Level 2 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. This position will be performing day‑to‑day work in Component Test Lab (CTL) work center. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Test campaigns may require 12‑hour shift work.

In this job, you will:

• Operate electronic ground support equipment (EGSE) Test racks by mating/demate cables for Avionics & box level testing, performs checkout pre- and post‑use inspections, data gathering and other requirements as necessary.
• Sets up test apparatus and conducts tests for circuit card assemblies (CCA’s) & Avionics boxes by following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.
• Lays out and assembles units for production equipment according to designs and specifications.
• Adjusts and calibrate systems as needed.
• Uses hand and small power tools, and various measuring and testing devices in performing job duties.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures Test, troubleshooting, removal, installation, modification, and maintenance of Avionics Boxes & circuit card Assemblies with collaboration & support from Test Engineering group.
• Must be able to read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions to fabricate and assemble necessary fixtures and/or components.
• Other responsibilities include: Conducting tests and reporting data in the prescribed format, using predetermined methods, sequences, and setups to inspect or test specific equipment or products.
• Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends as required.
• Other duties as assigned This position can be filled at either a Level 1 or Level 2.
