Job summary

Vail Resorts is hiring an Entry-Level Ski Lift Maintenance Assistant/Mechanic for the winter season 2026/27 in Wisconsin. This hands-on role offers exposure to chairlifts, gondolas, and surface lifts with on-going training and safety instruction.

You’ll work outdoors in alpine conditions and support experienced mechanics in daily start-up procedures. Applicants should have mechanical aptitude, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and a valid US driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude or experience with tools, equipment, or outdoor machinery.
• Intermediate ski/snowboard ability preferred.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine maintenance and inspections of chairlifts, gondolas, and surface lifts.
• Support mechanics with daily start‑up procedures and pre‑operative checks.
• Perform basic tasks such as cleaning equipment, tightening bolts, and monitoring equipment under supervision.
• Learn to identify and report signs of mechanical wear or abnormal operation.
• Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from lift locations.
• Maintain clean and organized workspaces in lift shacks and maintenance areas.
• Adhere to all safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in on‑the‑job training and technical instruction to develop skills and advance to higher‑level mechanic roles.
• Assist with snow removal around lift terminals and access areas as needed.
• Respond to lift stoppages and assist with mechanical troubleshooting under supervision.
