Job summary

RHI Magnesita is seeking a Sizing Plant Operator for the Swing Shift to operate production equipment in the MgO and HPS plants and to help meet production schedules safely and efficiently.

You will monitor equipment, check material quality, and keep accurate production records, while following safety procedures and participating in daily maintenance tasks.

As a Sizing Plant Operator at RHI Magnesita, you’ll operate production equipment in the MgO and HPS plants while helping the team meet production schedules safely and efficiently. You’ll monitor equipment, check material quality, and keep accurate production records.

What You'll Do

Operate and monitor production equipment

• Operate Sizing Plant equipment according to standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.
• Inspect plant equipment daily, identify operating issues, and report problems to Maintenance or your supervisor.
• Inspect mobile equipment and complete daily checklists. After training, operate equipment such as Mack dump trucks, forklifts, Bobcats, and loaders.
• Transfer material from the Old Sizing Plant as needed.

Check quality and document production

• Collect samples according to Quality Control Guidelines to verify that materials meet specifications.
• Review lab results and use them to help resolve operational problems.
• Log daily production and material transfers using SAP, Excel, and Word.
• Communicate department activities clearly in daily verbal and written updates.

Support a safe, organized plant

• Follow safety procedures, including required lockout procedures, and set a positive example for safe work.
• Complete daily and weekly cleanup and preventive maintenance tasks, and report potential problems.
• Cross-train for other department duties, such as BP Mixing crushing and outside work.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to operate production machinery and, after training, the mobile equipment used by the department.
• Ability to use computers to record production information and material transfers.
• Ability and willingness to cross-train in department positions.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment when addressing quality concerns.

Health, Safety & Work Environment

Work takes place indoors and outdoors in conditions that may include heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Required personal protective equipment includes a hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves.
