Job description

JOB TITLE : Elementary School Teacher- 6th Grade

TYPE OF POSITION : Certified

REPORTS TO : Building Principal

POSITION PURPOSE : To teach elementary school pupils academic, social, and manipulative skills in public educational systems by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Instructs students in subject matter, utilizing various teaching methods, such as lecture and demonstration, and uses audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.
  • Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
  • Prepares teaching outline for course of study, assigns lessons, and corrects homework papers.
  • Administers tests to evaluate pupil’s progress, record results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Maintain discipline in classroom and in other school activities.
  • Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other materials, considering factors, such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations of students.
  • Discusses pupil’s academic and behavior problems with parents and suggests remedial action.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Keeps attendance and grade records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.

  • Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee should be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of those commonly associated with this type of work: pen, pencil, pointer, stylus, projector, public address system, tape recorder, blackboard, chalk, charts, diagrams, examinations, manuals, maps, publications, reference books, textbooks, and computers.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.
TERMS

Length of leave of teacher your subbing for. $100.00 per day to start.
