Job description

Siting and Routing Specialist: AECOM

Immediate employment in Mid-Atlantic offices including Greater Philadelphia, Pittsburgh or Arlington/DC Metro areas. Hybrid/teleworking opportunities available under AECOM Freedom to Grow initiative.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Conduct and lead siting and routing studies, developing potential routing and siting options within a geodatabase and ArcPro or other ESRI-based GIS platforms.
  • Support studies by developing quantitative and qualitative outputs and metrics, mapping packages, technical siting study reports, and completing environmental impact assessments.
  • Perform desktop environmental data inventory collection, data review, routing and siting analysis, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Participate in and lead client meetings, site walkdowns, prepare for public meetings, and public utility commission filings for each project.
  • Assist with technical and quality reviews of work completed by other staff; collaborate with team members to meet client-driven deadlines.
  • Work as a technical specialist as part of a larger team or independently based on project needs.
  • Assist AECOM Senior Project Managers and Leadership with business development activities, proposals and qualification packages and client development.
  • Work may require extended hours, evenings, and/or overnight travel.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Studies, Geography/Regional Planning, or related field + 6 years of experience or equivalent education.
  • Siting and routing experience required.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5–10 years of direct siting and routing development experience, technical writing, data analysis, ESRI GIS experience related to transmission siting and routing studies, permitting and environmental impact assessment, and/or team leadership.
  • Experience in the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA, WV, OH, IN, IL, KY).
  • In-depth knowledge of utility siting and routing processes, public utility regulations, application processes, and understanding of desktop and field review processes.
  • Technical writing experience authoring siting and routing reports.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding consulting environment with high self‑motivation and team leadership skills.
Additional Information
  • The position requires client travel and/or fieldwork, including overnight travel.
  • Relocation and sponsorship not available.
