Job summary

Empower Solar is seeking a full-time Solar Site Surveyor to document site information for photovoltaic system design. You will gather homeowner data, capture aerial imagery with a drone and iPad, and photograph electrical panels, obstructions, and property details to support permits and installation.

Responsibilities include assessing rooftops, measuring roof planes, attic spaces, and documenting damages. Travel within California is required and a valid California driver’s license is essential.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Ability to read, write, understand solar plans and designs as well as obtain excellent verbal communication.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Current Driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to operate a computer, drone and smartphone for communication and uploading documents/photos.

• Assess job site conditions upon arrival such as rooftops and electrical panels
• Utilize Drones to capture aerial imagery
• Measure roof planes, vents, dormers, and chimneys as needed
• Measure and access attic structure and conditions
• Capture shade reading reports for designers and financing platforms
• Draw, document, and photograph roofs, Attic space and Electrical panels, including pre-existing damages
• Upload photos and site assessment documentation into Site Capture
• Inspect roofs for structural integrity
• Properly use Personal Protective Equipment
• Perform other tasks and duties as required

Description

Empower Solar is a full service, residential solar installer looking experienced and driven individuals to join our ever-expanding team. We are currently looking for a full-time Solar Site Surveyor to assist documenting site information in order to design a photovoltaic system to meet the needs of our customer.

Position Overview:

The Site surveyor position is a very critical part our organizations internal team. Our site surveyors are the first person with boots on the ground at the jobsite representing our company. You will work closely with our Design and Engineering team along with fellow site surveyors. This position is responsible for gathering all information needed from a homeowner’s residence to ensure the design team can properly prepare permits needed to facilitate installation of photovoltaic systems. With the utilization of a drones & iPad, this position requires you to get aerial imagery of the home/property and take photos of the electrical panel, meter, obstructions, and general property info but not limited to taking physical measurements and documentation.

Qualifications:

• Solar installation experience is preferred but not required
• Ability to read, write, understand solar plans and designs as well as obtain excellent verbal communication
• Ability to work in challenging environments (hot sun, cold, wind, tight spaces, etc.)
• Capable of standing for long stretches of time and working at heights (on rooftops, climb ladders and stairs)
• Must be willing to travel
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during work, including but not limited to peers and customers
• Ability to operate a computer, drone and smart phone for communication and uploading documents / photos
• Must be open to working different schedules Mon-Sun
• Current Driver’s license, and clean drivers abstract

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, crawl, push, pull, reach, sit, stand, climb ladders, and work with various tools and equipment. Must be able to operate a pallet jack and forklift. Have to ability to listen, understand, and communicate in writing and verbally. The employee will frequently be required to lift objects up to 75 pounds.
