Job summary

Convergint in Houston, TX is seeking a full-time Field Project Manager to lead installation, programming, start-up, certification and training on fire, security and building automation projects.

You will manage site execution within contract scope, schedule and budget, supervise project specialists and installers, coordinate with the project coordinator, and ensure quality and safety standards while delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years relevant field experience
• Supervisory experience on field projects
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
• Strong customer-focused communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee site management for timely completion within budget and scope.
• Collaborate with Project Coordinator to prepare installation plans and procedures.
• Supervise Project Specialists, Installers and subcontractors in the field.
• Recruit and hire Project Specialists and Installers; manage performance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure QA standards on-site.
• Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and monitor costs and schedules.
• Ensure installation quality per codes and company standards.
• Install, program, test, repair, and service fire, life safety, security, or building automation systems.

Works with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plan and implement job procedures.Supervises Project Specialists, Installers and subcontractors in the field. May perform managerial responsibilities including but not limited to: mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues; planning, assigning and directing work.Recruits and hires Project Specialist and Installers. Directly responsible for the performance management of all direct reports.Coordinates and supervises subcontractors including directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.Works closely with the Project Coordinator to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.Responsible for overall quality of the installation in accordance with national and local codes, and company standards.Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation. Colleague is key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and as such is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.What You’ll NeedExceptional customer focus and ability to regularly work under pressure; consistent ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems; may adapt procedures, processes, tools to meet the more complex requirements of the job.Strong field supervision skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; advanced math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel is required.
