Cleland Site Prep, LLC is seeking a Clearing and Forestry Superintendent to lead field operations, develop bid strategies, and drive project execution. You will ensure a safe workplace, grow employees for future roles, and foster customer relations while aligning multiple lines of business to maximize material sales and overall profitability.

You will oversee timber, clearing and wood chip activities, coordinate with engineers and subcontractors, and develop software proficiency for forecasting

Responsibilities

• Oversee timber, clearing and wood chip activities including costs for bidding and completing projects on time and on budget.
• Coordinate with job superintendents, owners, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure successful project completion.
• Balance internal construction activities with external sales to maximize profitability.
• Develop and maintain competency in the software used for analysis, forecasting, bid strategy and cost estimates.
• Build relationships with SC DES, General Contractors and key accounts.
• Plan and coordinate people, equipment, materials across projects and customers.
• Ensure proper staffing of supervision, crews, laborers, equipment and subcontractors.
• Oversee scheduling of crews and fleet; ensure project execution and build out.
• Provide effective communication and long-term planning.

Position Overview

The Clearing and Forestry Superintendent will directly oversee construction related field operations from helping to develop bid strategy to project execution. He/she will be responsible for providing a safe work place for employees, developing employees for future roles, and customer/community relations. The Clearing and Forestry Superintendent will take the lead in ensuring all lines of business are working together to meet the overarching company goal of maximizing material sales and overall profitability.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Overall responsibility for timber, clearing and wood chip activities including establishing costs for bidding, bid analysis, and completing projects on time and on budget.
• Continuously coordinate with job superintendents, owners, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are successfully completed.
• A complete understanding of the market, the players in the market (competitors/customers) and how best to balance internal construction activities and external sales with the goal of maximizing overall company profitability.
• Develop and maintain a strong competency and understanding in the software used by the company to assist in analysis, forecasting, bid strategy and cost estimates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the SC DES, General Contractors and other key accounts.
• Planning and coordination of people, equipment, materials, etc. between various projects and customers.
• Ensure proper staffing of project supervision, crews, laborers, equipment, subcontractors, etc.
• Oversee scheduling of crews, trucks, and oversee all related projects to ensure project execution and build out.
• Provide effective communication and long-term planning.
• Adhere to any and all state, federal, and company regulations.
• Operate and Oversee all wood chipping facilities and locations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
• Strict adherence to Cleland Site Prep policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• 5+ years previous supervisory experience
