Job summary

Dee Cramer, Inc. is seeking a Site Safety Manager to lead on-site safety across construction projects in the Detroit area.

You will partner with employees, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. The role involves conducting safety inspections, coordinating permits, delivering training, and maintaining safety records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred.
  • 2–3 years of construction safety experience; 5 years if two required fields are not present.
  • Sheet Metal leadership experience may fulfill the experience requirement if needed.

  • Conduct site inspections, safety walks, audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and track corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, permits, OSHA logs, and project records.

  • Facilitate safety training, new hire orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety education.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses; coordinate reporting and corrective actions.

Join Our Team

Dee Cramer is seeking a Site Safety Manager to help drive and maintain a strong culture of safety on assigned construction project sites. In this role, you'll serve as the primary on-site safety resource, partnering with employees, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies, project requirements, and OSHA regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Participate in project coordination and safety meetings to communicate expectations, address concerns, and support safe project execution.
  • Conduct site inspections, safety walks, audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks, ensure compliance, and track corrective actions.
  • Complete and maintain required safety documentation, reports, permits, OSHA logs, and project records.
  • Prepare and review Daily Task Assessments (DTAs), Pre-Task Assessments (PTAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other risk assessments.
  • Coordinate site-specific permits, authorizations, and safety requirements before work begins.
  • Facilitate site-specific training, new hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee safety education.
  • Track employee certifications, training records, and expiration requirements.
  • Monitor weather conditions and communicate emergency procedures, severe weather alerts, and site notifications.
  • Serve as the site contact for drug and alcohol testing programs and other compliance-related requirements.
  • Manage the procurement, inventory, inspection, and distribution of PPE, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections of tools, equipment, work areas, and safety systems to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Oversee subcontractor safety performance and compliance with company, site, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; coordinate reporting and implement corrective actions.
  • Interface with project stakeholders, contractors, customers, and regulatory agencies on safety matters.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial or industrial construction environments.
  • If a candidate does not possess the two required fields above, they are required to have at least 5 years of Sheet Metal leadership experience.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to travel throughout job sites as required to conduct safety inspections.
Travel

Travel requirements are dependent on project assignment. Travel could be required for meetings, audits, training, conferences, or support of other project locations.
