Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for Network & Transport Systems in Fort Meade, MD or Arlington, VA. You will introduce SRE culture, automate network configurations, and build telemetry pipelines to improve uptime and performance across the transport backbone.
Work with Cloud and Platform teams to define SLIs/SLOs for latency and circuit uptime, lead blameless postmortems, and implement software‑driven auto‑remediation.
Join the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), where we deliver the secure IT and communications capabilities that keep our Nation’s Warfighters and senior leaders connected anytime, anywhere. Within Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) Enterprise Directorate (J-6), we empower our Nation’s senior leaders and the warfighter community with assured enterprise services to win in an evolving global landscape.
As the Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for Network & Transport Systems, you will serve as a foundational technical pioneer establishing modern SRE culture, practices, and tooling across the operations organization. In this role, your primary mission is to engineer the reliability of physical, virtual, and hybrid transport infrastructure—treating network routing, switches, firewalls, and data center transit as software‑defined, automated systems.
You will eliminate manual operational toil by authoring robust automation code (Python, Go, Ansible, Terraform), architecting end‑to‑end telemetry and monitoring pipelines, and defining critical Service Level Indicators and Objectives (SLIs/SLOs) for network uptime, latency, and packet health. In close collaboration with cloud and platform engineering teams, you will ensure seamless, secure transit handoffs into hybrid‑cloud environments, lead blameless incident post‑mortems, and drive systemic resilience across all enterprise transport services.
