Job summary

Piper Companies seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to join a growing technology organization. The role focuses on Kubernetes administration, Linux systems, and platform reliability across AWS and on-prem environments.

This is a Contract to Hire position with remote work within the United States. The engineer will build and maintain Kubernetes clusters, optimize Linux infrastructure, and implement IaC using Terraform or CloudFormation, collaborating with teams on incidents and infrastructure

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in SRE/DevOps or related field.
• Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in AWS and/or on-premises.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

Piper Companies is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a growing technology organization. The Site Reliability Engineer will support and maintain critical infrastructure across AWS and on-premises environments, with a focus on Kubernetes administration, Linux systems, and platform reliability. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong systems or infrastructure background who is experienced managing existing environments and ensuring operational excellence. The Site Reliability Engineer is a Contract to Hire opportunity and allows you to work remotely in the United States.

Responsibilities of the Site Reliability Engineer:

• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes (K8s) clusters across AWS and on-premises environments.
• Support and optimize Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring stability, performance, and availability.
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions utilizing Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support platform reliability, incident response, and ongoing infrastructure improvements.

Requirements of the Site Reliability Engineer:

• 4+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Systems Administration, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters in AWS and/or on-premises environments.
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts; exposure to Ruby-based environments is preferred.
• Experience supporting and maintaining production infrastructure environments; platform design experience is not required.

Compensation for the Site Reliability Engineer:

• $120,000 - $150,000
