Job summary

Pythian is seeking an experienced site reliability engineer to optimize cloud infrastructure and data services in our Reston, Virginia team. You will automate deployments, monitor performance, and ensure reliability across Kubernetes clusters and microservices.

Strong Go skills and IaC experience are highly valued. You will collaborate with AI/ML teams to prepare infrastructure for model training and data pipelines, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to a culture of automation and

Qualifications

• Experience with Google Cloud and Terraform.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and networking.
• Hands-on Linux system administration.
• SRE mindset focused on automation, scalability, and reliability.
• Golang is a plus.

• Automate workflows using Go, Python, and Shell scripting.
• Build monitoring and observability solutions with Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki.

• Participate in on-call rotations and postmortem reviews to improve system resilience.

What You Will Be Doing

• Operate and optimize Kubernetes clusters, Istio service mesh, and Linux-based systems.

What We Need From You

• Experience with Google Cloud, plus IaC tools (Terraform).
• Strong knowledge of microservices, containers (Kubernetes, Docker), and networking.
• Hands-on experience with PKI, service mesh, and Linux systems administration.
• SRE mindset with a focus on automation, scalability, and reliability.
• Experience with Golang is an asset.
