Site Reliability Engineer

Role Description

Join our team as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience and will take ownership of the reliability, scalability, and performance of our production systems. Working alongside a team of skilled DevOps and SRE engineers, you'll drive reliability initiatives end to end, influence architectural decisions, and help mentor others in a collaborative and supportive environment where your ideas are valued and your contributions make a tangible impact.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement strategies to improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems.
• Own and evolve our observability stack using Datadog, the LGTM stack, AWS, and Kubernetes to monitor, analyze, and optimize system reliability.
• Design and build custom monitoring, alerting, and automation solutions to identify and remediate issues proactively.
• Define, champion, and continuously improve SRE best practices, SLIs/SLOs, and error budgets to maintain the stability and resilience of our infrastructure.
• Lead incident response, drive blameless post-incident reviews, and turn findings into lasting reliability improvements.
• Participate in and help improve on-call rotations, providing timely responses to incidents.
• Partner with engineering teams to embed reliability into the software lifecycle and mentor engineers on SRE principles.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience operating production systems on cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, etc.
• Deep understanding of networking, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with configuring and maintaining databases and other critical services.
• Experience in scripting and automation skills using Python or similar programming languages.
• Experience defining and operating against SLIs/SLOs/SLAs and managing error budgets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience applying DevOps methodologies in production.
• Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Github Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Solid understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Familiarity with Data Platform tools such as Fivetran, Databricks, Holistics.
• Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or related technologies are a plus.

Pay Range and Compensation Package

• The estimated base salary range for this role is $105k - $127k depending on experience

Physical Requirements

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and frequent walking. Daily use of a computer, phone, office equipment and other computing and digital devices is required. Some travel may be necessary – the ability to travel by car, plane, train, bus, vessel, or metro, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s License and/or effectively navigate public transportation is required.
